Coaching support for organisations
With stripped-back budgets and a long-term financial squeeze, the not-for-profit and public sectors need to find new, effective ways to support their people to remain resilient while doing good work. Increasingly, the need to 'do more with less' is leading to stress, poor health and burnout. Offering coaching as part of your organisation's benefits package can have a substantial impact, increasing wellbeing, reducing turnover and absences while improving focus and productivity.
In March 2023, the think tank Pro Bono Economics published research that showed that 30% of charities had reported increased rates of staff burnout over the past year, while nearly a quarter of charity employers cited stress, burnout and large workloads as the primary cause of their struggles to retain staff.
I specialise in coaching people who work in charities and the public sector because I have first-hand experience of the challenges inherent in getting cause-led, meaningful work done with limited resources. My mission is to use coaching to support those working for good to avoid burnout, reconfigure how they approach their work, and establish new habits, techniques and boundaries that will allow them to stay passionate about their work and prioritise their wellbeing.
Coaching can be an enormously beneficial intervention at work, helping to:
Improve retention.
Reduce stress-related sick leave.
Show employees you're serious about investing in their development and wellbeing, and helping them to be as effective as possible, while taking excellent care of themselves.
Choosing to invest in coaching can lead to:
Improved performance.
Reduced procrastination.
Happier employees who are more engaged at work.
The promotion of a learning culture across the organisation.
How does coaching work in an organisational context?
Before coaching commences, I'll meet with the coachee and coaching sponsor (normally the line manager) to ensure that we all understand the desired outcomes of the coaching. We'll set clear goals and expectations, and agree how frequently we'll check-in as a group of three.
Once one-to one coaching begins, the content of each session is confidential to the coachee. We will work through whatever they need to work through, and set the goals they choose, in order to make the progress they need at work. Feedback sessions with the coaching sponsor will be about general progress and direction of travel, and serves as a space for open communication about how we're doing.
Who can have coaching?
Coaching is a vital investment for any organisation, and shouldn't be the preserve of senior managers. I have coached entry- and mid-level colleagues with enormous success, and would argue that developing deep self-knowledge and effective habits at work should be done as early on in a career as possible. The tools, techniques and approaches I use in my coaching practice will support any employee to improve their performance at work, while safeguarding their health and wellbeing.
If you are interested in coaching, and would like an informal chat to explore the options available to organisations, please book in a free discovery call.
What organisational coaching packages are available?
I provide coaching packages for not-for-profit and public sector organisations. These packages allow you to offer the unparalleled support of one-to-one coaching as a benefit to multiple employees at once.
I normally provide one day of coaching per week, either remotely or on-site (in London, Surrey and Kent). I can coach up to five coachees a day, working towards goals agreed collaboratively with the coaching sponsor and the individual being coached.
These packages can be used flexibly, and I can coach up to 20 of your people across one month, depending on the frequency of sessions we agree.
The package includes regular update calls with each coachee and their coaching sponsor. These calls ensure that all parties are happy with coaching outcomes and our general direction of travel. If this sounds good, please book a free discovery call to find out more.
Can I book your for one-off or ad-hoc coaching?
Yes! While there are substantial benefits to engaging a coach for multiple colleagues at once, I am also available to work one-on-one with individual team members. In this context I recommend a block of at least six sessions, but we can discuss your needs in a discovery call.
Highly-motivated clients can also benefit from ad-hoc 'power hour' sessions. These involve more preparation by both coach and coachee, and so prices are slightly higher per hour. These can be particularly useful if time and/or resource is tight.
My rates for coaching
25 minute discovery calls are free-of-charge.
Power hour (one-off) sessions of coaching cost £120 for one hour.
If you book a block of six one-hour sessions, the cost is £650.
Organisational coaching packages are tailored to your specific needs, and my day rate for this type of work starts at £750.
